Interior design quotation format, with a sample

By the Inbecto team · Updated

A good interior quotation lists the work room by room, each line with a description, size, unit (sq.ft, running ft or number), rate and amount, then the materials and brands, what is not included, the payment schedule, the time to finish, the warranty, and GST. Sending it as a link the customer can accept saves days of back and forth.

What to include

  • Your company name, logo, GSTIN, phone and address
  • Customer name, site address, quotation number, date and how long it is valid
  • Work room by room, each line with description, size, unit, quantity, rate and amount
  • Materials and brands: plywood grade (for example BWP to IS 710), laminate thickness, hardware brand, paint brand
  • What is not included: civil work, electrical fittings, appliances, transport, and so on
  • Payment schedule tied to stages of the work
  • Time to finish, warranty, and taxes
  • Space for the customer to accept

Payment schedule

Tie each payment to something the customer can see. A common pattern is 10 to 20 percent to book, 40 to 50 percent when materials reach the site or production starts, 30 percent on installation, and the last 5 to 10 percent on handover.

GST on interior work

Interior fit-out with materials is usually billed as a works contract, with GST at 18 percent under SAC 9954. Design or consultancy alone is a service at 18 percent too. Ask your CA for the right code for your work, and show the GST separately on the quotation.
