A UPVC window quotation lists each window by its mark (W1, W2), location, type (sliding, casement, fixed), size in millimetres, area in square feet (width × height ÷ 92,903), profile, colour, glass, hardware, mesh, rate per sq.ft and amount, followed by installation, GST and terms. A drawing of each window to its size avoids most disputes.

Columns to include

Mark and location: W1 Bedroom, W2 Kitchen
Type: 2 track sliding, 3 track sliding, casement, fixed, tilt and turn, combination
Size: width × height in mm, as measured on site
Area in sq.ft, and the chargeable area if you have a minimum
Profile system and series, colour (white, laminated, coloured)
Glass: for example 5 mm clear, 6 mm toughened, or double glazed 5 + 12 + 5
Hardware, mesh, grill
Rate per sq.ft, quantity, amount

Sample

Many fabricators set a minimum chargeable area for small windows and ventilators, as with V1 above; say so on the quotation.

Area and GST

Area in square feet = width in mm × height in mm ÷ 92,903. Round each window to one decimal and add them up. UPVC and aluminium windows are usually charged GST at 18 percent; show installation separately if you charge for it, and ask your CA for the HSN or SAC codes that fit your billing.
