Apps, phones and working offline

Inbecto works in any web browser, and as an app on Android phones, iPhones and computers. It is the same workspace everywhere: what you save on the phone is on the computer straight away.

On a phone the menu moves to the bottom of the screen. If the internet drops, pages you opened before still open, and new leads, customers, expenses, tasks, site visits and vendors are kept on the device and sent when you are back online.

How do I install Inbecto on my phone or computer?

Open your workspace address followed by /install on the device and follow the steps shown for it. Android also has the Inbecto app on Google Play; Windows and Mac have installers.

On screen: Install the app

Open yourcompany.inbecto.com/install on the device (or Search > Install the app). It shows the steps for that device:

  • Android: install Inbecto from Google Play (by Lywin Tech), or press Install in Chrome. A direct .apk download is also offered.
  • iPhone / iPad: open the page in Safari, tap the Share button (square with an arrow), then Add to Home Screen. The step-by-step guide is at yourcompany.inbecto.com/install-iphone.
  • Windows: press the install icon at the right end of Chrome or Edge's address bar, or download the installer.
  • Mac: in Safari choose File > Add to Dock, in Chrome use the install icon, or download Inbecto.dmg.

The installed app opens your workspace in its own window, keeps you signed in, and works offline for everyday things.

How to

How do I put Inbecto on my iPhone?

Inbecto is not in the App Store yet. Open yourcompany.inbecto.com/install-iphone in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, then Add.

Inbecto is not in the App Store yet, so iPhone and iPad users add it from Safari. It then opens full screen from its own icon, like any app, and is always the latest version.

  1. Open yourcompany.inbecto.com/install-iphone in Safari. If the link opened inside WhatsApp or another app, tap the ••• or compass button and choose Open in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button, the square with an arrow pointing up (at the bottom on an iPhone, top right on an iPad).
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen. Keep Open as Web App on if you see it, then tap Add.
  4. Open Inbecto from the new icon and sign in once. Allow notifications when asked.

Everything works, including the camera and notifications (iOS 16.4 or later). Two things wait for the App Store version: the Face ID or fingerprint lock, and Share to Inbecto from WhatsApp or Photos.

If something is not right

  • No Add to Home Screen in the list: scroll past the apps, or tap Edit Actions at the bottom and add it. Make sure you are in Safari.
  • It opens with an address bar: remove the icon and add it again with Open as Web App on.
  • It asks you to sign in again: the home screen app keeps its own sign-in, separate from Safari. Sign in once inside it.

The phone app asks for my workspace. What do I type?

Type only the first part of your company's address, for example "sharmainteriors" for sharmainteriors.inbecto.com. Your administrator can tell you what it is.

On Open your workspace, type the first part of your company's Inbecto address: for sharmainteriors.inbecto.com type sharmainteriors. Then sign in with your email (or mobile number, for employees).

Not sure? Ask whoever invited you, or look at the link in your invitation email. Look at the demo workspace opens the sample company. To switch company later: sign out and choose Use a different workspace.

How to

How do I switch to dark mode?

Press the moon button next to your name in the sidebar, or open Search and type "dark". Documents always print in light.

Press the moon (or sun) button beside your name at the bottom of the sidebar, or open Search (Ctrl K) and choose Switch to dark mode. The choice is remembered on that device. Quotations, invoices and other documents always print on white.

Can I open the phone app with my fingerprint or face?

Yes. After you sign in, the app offers to open with your fingerprint or Face ID. It then asks for it when it opens and after five minutes away. Turn it on or off in Your account.

On screen: Your account

  1. Sign in on the Inbecto phone app.
  2. When it asks Open Inbecto with your fingerprint?, press Turn on and touch the sensor (or look at the phone).
  3. From then on the app is locked when it opens, and when you come back after five minutes away. Touch the sensor to carry on.
  • Change it any time: Your account, This device, Open Inbecto with fingerprint.
  • If the fingerprint is not read, the phone offers its own PIN instead.
  • Sign in another way on the lock signs you out, to sign in with a password or a code. That sign-in is not locked again; the app asks once more whether to use the lock.
  • The lock is your own choice: signing out forgets it, so on a shared phone the next person is not locked out and is asked for themselves.

The lock is for the phone app only, on phones with a fingerprint or face sensor set up.

Good to know

Explained

Is the phone app different from the website?

It is the same Inbecto, with voice that uses the phone's own speech, sharing through the phone, and the back button. Prices, payment, upgrades and sign-up are only on the website. Most new features reach the app by themselves the next time it opens.

The Android and iPhone apps carry the same screens as the website, plus:

  • Voice commands use the phone's own speech recognition.
  • PDFs and links open the phone's share sheet.
  • The phone's back button works.

Differences:

  • Prices, payments, upgrades, sign-up and Google sign-in are only on the website (store rules).
  • New features arrive on the website first. Most reach the app by themselves: it downloads them in the background and shows them the next time you open it. A few (a new phone permission, for example) need the app updated from Google Play or the App Store. If something described in help is missing, close and reopen the app, update it from the store, or use the website meanwhile.

Your account, This device shows the app's version, and the update it is showing if one has arrived.

Explained

Does Inbecto work without internet?

Yes, for everyday things. Pages you opened before open again, and new leads, customers, expenses, tasks, site visits and vendors are kept on the device and sent when you are back online. Quotations, invoices and payroll need a connection.

Once you have opened your workspace on a device, it works there without a connection:

  • Viewing: pages and records you looked at before open again and show what they showed then. Your menu's pages are kept fresh once a day while online.
  • Adding: new leads, customers, expenses, tasks, site visits and vendors are saved on the device. A bar at the top says how many are waiting; they are sent by themselves when the connection returns.
  • Needs internet: quotations, invoices, payments, payroll, uploads, and changing or deleting existing records. These say "this needs the internet".

Records kept on a device belong to the person signed in and are wiped when they sign out.

Explained

What does the "Saved on this device" bar mean?

Records you added without a connection are waiting to be sent. Press Send now once you are online, or Review to see them. One that cannot be saved can be discarded.

The bar counts records you added while offline. They are sent as soon as there is a connection.

  • Send now: try straight away. "Still no connection" means try again later.
  • Review: see each waiting record. Discard drops one you no longer want.
  • If one is refused (for example a required field was missing, or your access changed), it is listed so you can add it again properly.

Do not sign out while records are waiting: signing out wipes what is kept on the device.

Quick answer

Why did my phone buzz and confetti appear?

Money came in, or a client accepted a quotation. Inbecto celebrates it with a little confetti, and a chime and a buzz where sound is on. Switch the sound off in the bell or in Your account.

When a payment is recorded or arrives, or a client accepts a quotation, Inbecto shows a short burst of confetti and a message.

  • Sound and vibration is on in the phone app and off on the website. Switch it in the bell (the cog, then Sound and vibration) or in Your account, This device.
  • Confetti does not show for anyone whose phone or computer is set to reduce motion.
